Pip Crosley

Pip’s practice comes from a lifelong passion for the natural world. Working in 3-D using materials either found in nature or recycled, she works hard to minimise her own consumption and rejects the creation of  ‘more stuff’. Using hand dug clay and fallen branches she explores themes around balance and tension between the natural and the man-made world. Previous work used old plastic LPs to create a barely balancing tower with record labels progressing from green to red representing global temperatures rising.

Her purpose is to communicate ideas in a way that engages rather than alienates. Pip’s work is either biodegradable and purposefully left to the elements or deconstructed and reused for new pieces. A photographic record sits at the heart of her otherwise ephemeral practice.
