Lou Taylor-Bowen

Lou's work is process driven, inspired by nature's colour palette, subtle textures, and layers as if looking through a hazy lens of the camera.

Free flowing and intuitive, invoking emotional responses to the materials and process, bringing an holistic approach through both two- and three-dimensional pieces.

Lou's art is an inquiry into objects and our connections to them. Her pieces ask how objects speak to us and us to them. These questions are born of Lou's curiosity and her sense of playfulness. The results of these investigations are the whimsical and ethereal figures of Lou's paintings and sculptures.

Lost in the multisensory moment; as if in a daydream is how Lou would invite the viewer to engage and connect with her work.

Everything seems to be subject to time, yet it all happens in the now. There is no time, and the now is all there ever is!  This is Lou's mindset when she is immersed in the process of making art.

Louise’s creative career encompasses knowledge and experience in the fashion industry, as a stylist, personal shopper, and makeup artist.

Trained as a colour and style consultant, Lou knows how warm and cool tones of colour work in harmony, or in contrast; understandings that inform her painting. Living and working in Gloucestershire, Louise is inspired by the green hills and the wildflower hedgerow. She uses found objects such as twigs and plant material in her sculpture and mixed media work.

Having been a buyer and merchandiser for her own fashion and accessory shop she has a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.

Organizing fashion shows, events and collaborating with fellow artists have all broadened Lou's communication and organization skills.

Louise has sold her work at various events throughout the Cotswold’s. The aesthetics of her art sits comfortably alongside antique and interior pieces.
